Fabiana Lodi Marzano graduated engineer in Polytechnic School of University of São Paulo – POLI, USP in 2002. Semiconductor master degree in Semiconductor in USP in 2004, with the thesis “Glass Passivation for Power Semiconductor´s Junction” and an article “Glasses for Passivation of Power Semiconductors Junctions”.
Wanderley Marzano´s daughter, founder of Aegis Semicondutores Ltda. in Brazil. This was the first place I worked for as trainee and after that as engineer.
Co-founder of Komkrat Componentes Eletrôncios Ltda., a semiconductor industry where a patent was applied for an Electronic AC Switch for medium and high voltage – WO2017147674 – CHAVE ELETRÔNICA DE POTÊNCIA.
Semiconductor as a life´s experience
Hi! Thank you for being here with me!
My name is Fabiana Lodi Marzano – I will leave my background out of this text just because it was already presented – and I would love to share with you the “ Semiconductor as a life´s experience”.
What could it be “Semiconductor as a life´s experience” ?
Well, semiconductor is part of my life since I was born. My father, an electronic engineer, who worked first in semiconductor lab at University of São Paulo, and after worked at Semikron Brazil, in the 70´s, built, together with my mother, his own semiconductor company in 1982 and I was born in 1979.
So, since I was born semiconductor was always near me as my family too.
That´s why for me semiconductor and family always walked together, as also my personal and professional life.
Ok, back then my parents, supporting each other, decided to open Aegis Semiconductor.
A semiconductor´s fab in a country like Brazil where until today never existed any semiconductor´s policy … led us to the needy to find our own solutions to solve our problems, so we always needed to be creative up to the point of continuously improving existing solutions.
A semiconductor´s fab isn´t cheap or easy to build, you have the infrastructure to support your production like in any other industry, but with its particularities. For us, the specific machinery, wasn´t available locally, and importing wasn´t an option, because of their costs and very high duties and taxes.
The idea was design and build our own equipment.
This is the scenario where I grew up, being flexible, dynamic and creative. These were the keys to succeed.
In the middle of everything, my parents were also determined to prepare us as best as possible to face future challenges. So, they taught us the pleasures of learning and how studying can fulfill it. But that´s not all, we also needed to learn discipline, will, challenges and resilience, they achieved that through sports.
That took me to my first passion : swimming.
Until today I don´t know exactly why I loved so much to swim, but I believe it was linked with the sports philosophy … the discipline, the will, the fight and the challenges… all things that I was used to see inside my home every day… maybe it was a connection with it .. I don´t know but I learned so much from it.
Now I can understand how I learned that semiconductor is more than only a device, a material, a technology, a process … it´s resilience, will, discipline, challenges, fight, admiration, it´s family and it´s support.
Now I invite you all, to continue reading my posts, where I will share my experience with you, and I hope you could also share yours with me. I believe sharing experiences is one of the best ways to learn.
